This Standard specifies testing methods for assessing general characteristics of general woven fabric textiles (hereafter referred to as "woven fabrics") and weft and warp knitted fabric textiles composed of continuous knitted loops (hereafter referred to as "knitted fabrics").

In the case where testing methods for colour fastness and physical property on which separate Japanese Industrial Standards exist and in the case of carpets, polyurethane fabrics, flocked fabrics and laminated fabrics for clothes, relevant testing methods specified separately shall apply.

NOTE 1 "Weft knits" involve "flat knits" and "circular knits".
