This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies testing methods for determining, by use of a refrigerant, the refrigerating capacity and power consumption of a refrigerant condensing unit which utilizes as its refrigerant inert fluorocarbons including non-azeotropic mixed refrigerants, and CO2.

The refrigerant condensing units covered by this Standard consists of a displacement compressor, condenser or gas cooler (hereafter referred to as condenser etc.) and accessories such as a receiver.

This Standard does not apply to room air conditioners, car air conditioners, or other condensing units manufactured integral with specific evaporators.

This Standard specifies absorption refrigerator, absorption chiller/heater and absorption heat pump (hereafter referred to as absorption refrigerating machine), each having a refrigerating capacity of 25 kW or over.

The absorption refrigerating machine uses absorption refrigeration cycle through equipment like the generator (including high temperature generator and low temperature generator), condenser, absorber and evaporator.

In order to cool or heat water, the machine uses water as refrigerant, uses lithium-bromide water solution as absorbent solution, and supplies driving heat source with the generator or high temperature generator.

NOTE 1 Driving heat sources are city gas, liquefied petroleum gas, oil, steam, driving heat source hot water, driving heat source exhaust gas, etc.

NOTE 2 Unless otherwise specified, the pressure described in this Standard refers to a gauge pressure.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the absorption refrigerating machines, absorption water chilling and water heating packages and absorption heat pumps (hereafter referred to as "refrigerating machines") having the refrigerating capacity of 25 kW or over per a single machine among those which perform cooling or heating of water, constituting of an absorption refrigeration cycle with generators (including high temperature generators, and low temperature generators) condenser, absorber, evaporator, etc. by using water as a refrigerant and lithium-bromide water solution as an absorbent solution and supplying heating sources to the generator or high temperature genera tor.

NOTE 1 For heating sources, there are city gas, liquefied petroleum gas, oil, steam, hot water for heating and exhaust gas for heating.

NOTE 2 Unless otherwise specified, the pressure described in this Standard refers to a gauge pressure.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies requirements for the centrifugal water chillers (hereafter referred to as chillers) which perform cooling or heating of water by the refrigerating cycle consisting of a centrifugal compressor, compressor driving motor, evaporator, water cooled condenser, auxiliary refrigerant pipings and control system.

The refrigeration capacity or heat pump heating capacity covered by this Standard is 150 kW and over according to the standard rating specified by this Standard.

Further, this Standard is applicable to chillers for use with a functional refrigerant having a saturation vapour pressure of not more than 3 MPa at the temperature of 35 °C; those chillers which depends on use of brine other than water to perform cooling and heating, or chillers intended for drinking water are not covered by this Standard.

NOTE All pressures indicated in this Standard are gauge pressures.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the centrifugal water chillers (hereafter referred to as "refrigerating machines") which perform cooling or heating of water by the refrigerating cycle composed of a centrifugal compressor, a compressor driving motor, an evaporator, a water cooled condenser, auxiliary refrigerant pipings and a control system, the refrigerating capacity of which, in accordance with the standard rating of this Standard, is 350 kW or greater.

Further, this Standard applies to the refrigerating machines which use an incombustible and non-toxic refrigerant whose saturation vapour pressure is not more than 3 MPa at the temperature of 35°C, and does not apply to those which perform cooling and heating by other brine than water or which supply water for drinking.

NOTE: Through the main text, the term "pressure" means a gauge pressure.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the safety code for the parts of small refrigerating equipment using a compressor, which receive the refrigerant pressure, in order to ensure the safety against the refrigerant pressure. Small refrigerating equipment refers to the refrigerating equipment of which the refrigerating capacity of one refrigerant circulation system per day is 0.2 t or over to and excluding 5 t, using carbon dioxide and inert fluorocarbon (including specific inert gas) whose saturation vapour pressure at the temperature of 35 °C is over 0.2 MPa up to and including 3 MPa as the refrigerant. However, the following shall be excluded.

a) Refrigerating equipment used at the steam temperature of -60 °C or lower

b) Air conditioners for automobiles

NOTE Unless otherwise specified, “pressure” in this Standard refers to “gauge pressure”.
