It supersedes the previous edition published in 2008. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.1<br \/>This Standard covers plumbing fixtures made of stainless steel alloys and specifies requirements for materials, construction, performance, testing, and markings. <\/p>\n<p>Note: The term corrosion-resisting steel is also applied to stainless steel. <\/p>\n<p>1.2<br \/>This Standard covers the following plumbing fixtures: <\/p>\n<p>a) bathtubs; <br \/>b) bidets; <br \/>c) drinking fountains and water coolers; <br \/>d) lavatories; <br \/>e) shower bases; <br \/>f) sinks:<\/p>\n<p>i) kitchen and bar sinks; <br \/>ii) laboratory sinks; <br \/>iii) laundry sinks; <br \/>iv) service sinks; and <br \/>v) utility sinks; <br \/>vi) urinals; and <br \/>vii) water closets.<\/p>\n<p>1.3<br \/>In this Standard, shall is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. <\/p>\n<p>Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. <\/p>\n<p>Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. <\/p>\n<p>Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application. <\/p>\n<p>1.4<br \/>SI units are the units of record in Canada. In this Standard, the yard\/pound units are shown in parentheses. The values stated in each measurement system are equivalent in application; however, each system is to be used independently.
