This Standard is not intended to provide requirements for paving brick specified in ASTM Standard C902.<\/p>\n<p>1.3<br \/>Brick are manufactured from clay, shale, or mixtures thereof, or similar naturally occurring earthy substances and subjected to a heat treatment at elevated temperatures (firing). The heat treatment must develop a fired bond between the particulate constituents to provide the strength and durability requirements of this Standard.<\/p>\n<p>1.4<br \/>Brick may be shaped during manufacture by moulding, pressing, or extrusion, and the shaping method may be used to describe the brick.<\/p>\n<p>1.5<br \/>Three types of brick in each of two grades are covered.<\/p>\n<p>1.6<br \/>The metric values used in this Standard are based on the International System of Units (SI).
