The<br \/>\ntheory accounts for the membrane strain that is introduced into the<br \/>\ninner faceplate by the rotation of the bevelled edges. ESDUpac<br \/>\nA9526 calculates the rms strain on the panel solid edge on the<br \/>\nattachment line at the centre of the longer side. To allow<br \/>\ncorrelation of measured and predicted data, a simulated strain<br \/>\ngauge reading may be obtained accounting for location and length of<br \/>\nthe gauge. The faceplates must be of equal thickness and the panel<br \/>\nis assumed to vibrate in its fundamental mode. ESDUpac B9526<br \/>\ncalculates the ratio of the strains in the centre of the two<br \/>\nfaceplates. The faceplates need not be of equal thickness and the<br \/>\nanalysis applies to any mode having an odd number of half waves<br \/>\nacross the width. A sketch shows a comparison of measured results<br \/>\nfor edge strains extracted from the literature with predictions<br \/>\nfrom the program.
