This Standard\u00a0shares the<br \/>\npurpose of [4] (and subsequent revision thereof) by ensuring that a<br \/>\nmobile\u00a0station can obtain service in any cellular system that<br \/>\nmeets the compatibility requirements\u00a0of [4].<\/p>\n<p>Compatibility, as used in connection with this Standard and [4],<br \/>\nis understood to mean\u00a0that any mobile station is able to place<br \/>\nand receive calls in any CDMA system. Conversely,\u00a0all CDMA<br \/>\nsystems are able to place and receive calls with any CDMA mobile<br \/>\nstation\u00a0supporting operation in the same band.<\/p>\n<p>Test methods are recommended in this document; however, methods<br \/>\nother than those\u00a0recommended may suffice for the same<br \/>\npurpose.<\/p>\n<p>The performance metrics in this Standard require a mobile<br \/>\nstation to provide a single\u00a0antenna connector for testing.<br \/>\nMobile stations having multiple antenna, such as for<br \/>\nreceive\u00a0diversity, shall provide a single antenna connector<br \/>\nfor testing.
