GeoTrends: The Progress of Geological and Geotechnical Engineering in Colorado at the Cusp of a New Decade is a collection of papers presented at the 2010 Biennial Geotechnical Seminar in Denver, Colorado, November 5, 2010. This seminar was sponsored by the Geotechnical Group of the ASCE-Colorado Section, the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists. Rocky Mountain Section, and the Colorado Association of Geotechnical Engineers. From downtown Denver to the open prairie of eastern Colorado, from the western slope mesas to the Rocky Mountains, and from the university classroom to the field, these papers examine past, present, and future geotechnical challenges in the areas of earth retention, foundations, dams, pavements, and sustainability. Topics discussed include: 1) Geotechnical History and Trends; 2) Advances in Foundation and Pavement Designs; 3) Earth Retention and Slope Stability; and 4) Underground Projects. This Geotechnical Practice Publication focuses on Colorado’s specific geotechnical practice and experience. It will be valuable to geotechnical engineers working in Colorado or similar geologic settings.<\/p>\n
