ESDU Struct 03.06.16 gives three graphs showing the variation around the circumference of the frame of the shear flow from the shell to the frame. Each graph applies to one loading condition: a concentrated couple, a tangential load or a radial load. The shear flow is plotted in a non-dimensional form, factored by the appropriate power of the radius and divided by the applied load. A number of curves are presented, each for a particular value of the effective skin-frame stiffness ratio. That parameter, defined in the abstract for ESDU Struct 03.06.17, involves an effective frame spacing, the value of which may be found using ESDU Struct 03.06.17. The applied couple and loads are assumed to act in the plane of the frame and to be balanced by tangential shear forces in the shell due to displacement of the frame as a whole and its deformation from a circular shape. The assumptions made in deriving the graph are summarised in ESDU Struct 03.06.00. A worked example illustrates the use of the data.
