La présente Norme internationale spécifie une méthode d'essai permettant de déterminer la concentration à
l’équilibre du formaldéhyde émis par des peintures et mousses mélamines dans une petite chambre d'essai.
Elle décrit la détermination de la concentration à l’équilibre du formaldéhyde qui est établie dans une atmosphère
de 23 °C, avec une humidité relative de 50 %. L'essai simule étroitement les conditions pratiques, et peut être
réalisé à l'échelle d'un laboratoire. On obtient une bonne corrélation avec des valeurs provenant d'échantillons du
même matériau, dans une chambre d'essai de 40 m3. La méthode, qui est simple à mettre en oeuvre, convient donc
pour la détermination préalable des limites à observer.
