{"id":244798,"date":"2024-10-19T16:05:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T16:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-en-62561-32017\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T11:04:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T11:04:58","slug":"bs-en-62561-32017","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-en-62561-32017\/","title":{"rendered":"BS EN 62561-3:2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This part of <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">IEC&nbsp;62561<\/span> <\/span> specifies the requirements and tests for isolating spark gaps (ISG) for lightning protection systems.<\/p>\n<p>ISGs can be used to indirectly bond a lightning protection system to other nearby metalwork where a direct bond is not permissible for functional reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Typical applications include the connection to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>earth-termination systems of power installations,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>earth-termination systems of telecommunication systems,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>auxiliary earth electrodes of voltage-operated, earth fault circuit breakers,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>rail earth electrode of power and DC railways,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>measuring earth electrodes for laboratories,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>installations with cathodic protection and stray current systems,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>service entry masts for low-voltage overhead cables,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>bypassing insulated flanges and insulated couplings of pipelines.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This does not cover applications where follow currents occur.<\/p>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE\n <\/div>\n<p>Lightning protection system components (LPSC) can also be suitable for use in hazardous conditions such as fire and explosive atmosphere.
