It is applicable to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>products intended for human consumption,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>products intended for feeding animals,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>environmental samples in the area of food production and food handling, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>samples from the primary production stage such as animal faeces, dust, and swabs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>WARNING Some strains of <i>Escherichia coli<\/i> may grow poorly or not at all in media incubated at 44&nbsp;\u00b0C. This includes strains of <i>E. coli<\/i> O157:H7 and O157:H<b><sup>&#8211;<\/sup><\/b>. Additionally, some strains of <i>Escherichia coli<\/i>, notably those belonging to serotype O157:H7, are mostly \u03b2-glucuronidase negative<sup>[<\/sup><sup>11<\/sup><sup>]<\/sup>.
