This British Standard speci\ufb01es requirements for gas meter boxes for use with single gas meter installations conforming to BS 6400, which:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    are supplied with gases of the 2nd and 3rd family, with a maximum capacity of 6 m3<\/sup>\/h and a maximum operating pressure not exceeding 2 bar; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    incorporate any of the following meters: diaphragm, ultrasonic, credit or prepayment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It does not apply to multiple meter installations which are installed in the same housing.<\/p>\n

    NOTE 1 The composition of fuel gases of the 2nd and 3rd family is speci\ufb01ed in BS EN 437.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    NOTE 2 All pressures quoted in this standard are gauge pressures.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    It covers the following designs of meter box, including any associated box extensions:<\/p>\n

    1. \n

      built-in;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      surface mounted;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      semi-concealed;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      universal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      It does not cover security shrouds intended to provide additional protection to meter installations.<\/p>\n

      This British Standard also speci\ufb01es requirements for the design of the standard meter bracket.<\/p>\n
